The further you go back in a family, the shorter the stories get. A lot of relatives of my great grandparents' generation and beyond have one sentence stories. For example, there's my great great aunt Lily. Here's what I was told about Lily: she was burned in a fire and never married.
That's it. Poor Lily. What a legacy. By all accounts she lived a reasonably long life so there was far more to Lily than this. I shall ask my grandmother about Lily, although getting sense out of my grandmother is getting harder and harder.
And it makes me wonder. In a hundred years, what will my one line story be?
