Arthur the church mouse
While sorting through books with my Dad at Christmas, found this children's classic, and, since my mind is on matters of solitude, took a photo of this page. I love the large shadow and the hands clasped behind his back as he walks away across the swirly tiles, and the lovely sadness to it.

I love the Churchmice books...they were a favourite when I was a child, and we currently have the Christmas one for reading to E. when she's bigger. My mum's set about to collect them all, but has found that she has to order them from the UK because they're out of print over here, so it's taken her a while to track them all down.
