What was that?

I've started trying to use the windows speech recognition program to copy out quotes because it's easier than wedging books under the laptop or holding them in one hand while I type with the other hand. I say easier although it often makes mistakes and then I have to go back and correct them. You read in a text and it learns your accent, or at least that's the idea. It has trouble though with the British accent so it's learning very slowly. I'm typing this whole post with speech recognition and it's taking me bloody ages. There are certain commands that you use to correct things to move around the page and click on things but importantly I've discovered that my 'oh' sounds like 'home' so when it does something unintended and I say 'oh' it thinks I want to go to the homepage and off it goes. Fortunately you can go back. When it doesn't know what you said or what to do, it writes 'what was that?' (I'm typing now, it was getting ridiculous.) Here's a quote I just read in, from a book I have to return to its owner, so it's a propos nothing except as a decent quote that mentions dragons.

The better the speech recognition gets, the less amusing it is. When I started I was trying to read in a text from Isaiah and it was coming with such hilarious suggestions that it was making me laugh, and then of course it typed in 'if if if if if' which just made me laugh more: 'if if if if if' and so on. Here's some snippets of Isaiah 51 through speech recognition unfettered by editing, before it got too used to me. Some intriguing theological possibilities here.
